I don't know if what has happened has been the result of Covid but that can't be the only reason. We stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago and it was a very good experience. The location is not very good I don’t want to go on, but the last one I think is the most funny one was the Tripadvisor certificate of excellence from the year 2012. They where making renovatios which caused a lot of noise (I heard other quest complaining about these) - Also noises from the corridor is loud. The aircon is old and noisy (but working, thank god). I asked for non smoking room, did not happen. Otherwise this would take long: - Breakfast is very simple. There are so many small problems with this place that I will just write a list. For a family that is 60€ for using hotel pool. Also with a quite high prize of 12€ if I remember correctly. I was not reading properly and did not realize that the pool is usable only with extra charge. I have been in a better hostel than this place. Ok, I know the stars are about facilities not quality, but still. It is disgraceful to say this is a 4 star hotel. Hotel staff were friendly, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel as a place to use if you are sight seeing in Rome, its too far out.
Hotel restaurant was very pricey, so we didn't eat there so cannot comment on the quality of the food. The kitchen staff work hard but they did keep running out of plates and cups on the 3 mornings we were there even though the breakfast room was not that busy. Breakfast was a continental style buffet affair, lots of different cakes but not much in the way of cold meats/cheese. Beds were clean and comfortable and rooms are quite spacious. The hotel has been recently refurbished to a fairly good standard although there were lots of random pipes which had been cut off and not 'tidied away' in the bathroom. If considering a taxi from the Marco Polo airport in May 2023 the price was 47-74 Euros depending on the time of day. The hotel is in Montemario which is a half hour bus journey (bus 91, 93 or 93L)from the outskirts of Rome - nearest underground/metro stop to the bus stop you need to get to the hotel is called Cipro. Hotel Roma Montemario is in a poor location for visiting Rome.
